An Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Sheet is the standard evaluation medium for recruitment and competitive examinations conducted across India by bodies like RSMSSB (Rajasthan Staff Selection Board), RPSC, SSC (Staff Selection Commission), UPSC, Railway RRB, NEET, and Banking (IBPS/SBI). Why Practicing with 5-Option OMR Sheets is Mandatory in Rajasthan Exams
As per the official recruitment amendment introduced by the RPSC (Rajasthan Public Service Commission) and RSMSSB:
- Every question contains five options: (A), (B), (C), (D), and (E).
- Options A, B, C, and D correspond to the correct choice.
- Option 'E' is specifically designated for "Question Not Attempted" (अनुत्तरित प्रश्न).
- If a candidate decides to skip a question, they must darken option 'E'. If neither A, B, C, D nor E is darkened, one-third (1/3rd) of the marks allotted to that question is deducted as negative marking.
- Furthermore, if a candidate leaves more than 10% of the total questions completely blank (neither of the 5 circles darkened), they are summarily disqualified from the examination.
Best Practices for Printing and Darkening OMR Sheets
- Printer Scaling: When printing the downloaded PDF or using Ctrl+P, always set scaling to "Actual Size" (100%). Never use "Fit to Page" or "Shrink oversized pages" to prevent distorting bubble alignment.
- Paper GSM: Standard copier paper (70 GSM) can bleed ink through when pressed hard. Use 90 to 120 GSM white bond paper for mock test series.
- Pen Selection: Use a quality 0.7mm or 1.0mm Black or Dark Blue Ballpoint pen (such as Cello Butterflow or Pentel Rorito). Gel pens, rollerball pens, fountain pens, and pencils must never be used on OMR sheets.
